Searing Gorge is a miniature version of Burning Steppes and a Slight taste of Hellfire Peninsula. Blackrock Mountain, which is home to many raid instances, divides this zone from the Burning Steppes and divides the Blackrock Ogres from the Dark Iron Dwarves.

You can also get there from Burning Steppes via Blackrock mountain, but you must have stealth. It is kind of an easy one only thing that stands between you and SG is one elite dragon near the gate. You can stealth by him. To the BurningSteppes you can go through Swamp of Sorrows and then through mountains near Deadwind to Redrock avaid Lakeshire if youre Horde (best to swim across lake). Then after some trek north through gate and you are in Burning Steppes. You can stealth walk a bit and even a lvl 40 character can get through but it can get realy painfull when one has bad luck. I find it an quicker route then through Alliance territory when you have no flight to Badlands.

The coords for the Horde flight path are 34.8,30.7.

I came in from Badlands and almost made it over before dying. Since the fp is near the gy, it may be worth just rezzing at gy to grab the fp your first time in the zone.

Yes the clip is from 2.1.0 (01.06.2007) but I have tested it on 2.2.3 (29.10.2007) and it still works.

I have done this with Hunter (Eagle Eye) and Shaman (Far Sight). For other classes, I think you might be able to do it if you think a bit smart. ;>

So yeah you can bypass it easy, the other way is to climb it but bah, if you haven't though of it before just go trough Badlands.. it would be quicker for you. :P

Several levelling guides suggest coming here at level 48, when, dependant on class/gear/skill, you should be able to solo every quest and gain essentially an entire level's worth of experience in the process, at a rather rapid pace.

I cheated and took a friend, and walked away with around 2/3 of a level in a relaxed evening's gaming. I had very little rest state when I started so I soon burned through it.

With 2.3 changes, I expect it should prove even more fruitful to clear this place up, so I will take another friend along in just a few more levels and try again.

In the unlikely event that I remember, I'll be sure and update you all here afterwards.

If you're a fire mage, I would not recommend going to Searing Gorge. Several common enemies there, such as the Inferno Elemental, are immune to or highly resistant to fire damage.

What you can do to get in is die in the blackrock mountain fire, the nearest graveyard is in searing gorge, so when you use the spirit rez (gives rez sickness) you'll spawn in the searing gorge next to all the flight paths. Gl ;P

The easiest way to get through the gates where you need a key, without having the key is following;

Unequip all gear and do a suicide next to the Gate (ie. falling from high mountains, having a mob pound you for 5mins, or perhaps 'Hellfire')
Then release spirit and run through the gate and spawn inside :)

This, together with STV, is probably one of the worst ganking zones I've ever spent my time in. For those planning on questing here be prepared to do alot of corpse running. It also seem that if you stand too near the northern side of the Caulderon area, you will be transported to the graveyard on the south side instead of the one on the northside which makes it a long run. Dunno if it's a bug or supposed to be like that. It's very irritating either way.

nice place for farming solid stone..lol :P good for farming mineral nodes tho..lots of them here..got lots of iron, gold, and sometimes thorium :P just go farming dark iron dwarfs and u will get alot of silk cloth tho..for runecloth go spire entrance or depth..good making reputation with thorium brotherhod for blacksmith or any profession..still got good point on this..high fire resistance item here..

One thing, the Cauldron in center of area, MAY be a World War 2 refrence, the German forces often called the city of Stalingrad the Kessel, or Cauldron, Stalingrad was a thriving industrial area, but after battel was reduced to...well, much what the searing gorge looks like, so may be, may not a reffrence lol.

Although it says Searing Gorge is level 43-50, I wouldn't recommend going there at 43. I'm a level 44 Rogue and none of the quests at Thorium Point are available to me, and the mobs tend to hang around lvl 46-51 from what I've seen.

Perhaps I'll go back at 45 and try my chances.

Both horde and alliance FPs are at thorium point.
Best lvl to go to Searing gorge is 45 and u can get there thru badlands.
As horde i walkd from wetlands->loch modan > badlands

There are actually 3 ways into Searing Gorge, but one requires a key (obtained within the zone).
You can access the zone in the following ways:

Badlands
Most common. Entrance is near the horde city.
Blackrock Mountain
Burning Steppes is the southern entrance to BRM.
Loch Modan (key required)
The quest to obtain the southern gate key starts with a 100% drop: Margol's Horn

I enjoyed this zone so much it rivals STV. Keep in mind, all of you who are ready to downrate this because both are major ganking zones, that i play on a PvE server. The zone is small, so you can easily cross it on the regular land mount, or even on foot it you really want to. Getting the key wasn't that hard in retrospect, nor was finding the badlands entrance. Once you get the FP, you're set though, however you get in, because I believe, correct me if i'm wrong, that it is connected to SW. None of the quests were very challenging, and there were enough of them to keep me happy and busy for a while. Probably the hardest quest was this because I couldn't find the damn slag pit until i finally decided to consult WoWhead. The only other things i had trouble with were the fire elementals who were, as has already been said, immune to fire, and the mechanical golems who were immune to life drains (i did the zone as an affliction lock).

Just tried this, and unfortunately...it does not work.

Went to the gate from Loch Modan, jumped off a small hill (numerous amount of times) untill i died. I respawned on the inside of the gate.

Had no problems...until i got to the gate at the end of the tunnel which grants you entry to Searing Gorge and could not pass through it as you still need the key.

So ho hum. Best way so far is through Badlands imo.

yet another way is through burning steppes, (this is easier for alliance tho) go to redridge, go to the very top point on your map and there is an entrance, follow the road through burning steppes to blackrock mountain, run through and welcome to searing gorge!

The Entrance to Searing Gorge from Badland is on the coordinates 6,60.

In the Badlands, there's a road in the far west of the zone that runs North into Kargath. Take that road, going North towards Kargath, until you start to see the Kargath buildings. On your left there will be a path up into the hills that leads to a pass into Searing Gorge. You can spot it by the funny tree with only three branches at its entrance. For some reason the path doesn't appear on either the Badlands or Searing Gorge maps.

Searing Gorge is mainly level 46 - 51 if u are doing quests, but if u stay on the outside edge when u enter from the Badlands u can kill there around level 42 but the quests are more 46+ oriented.

.. is entering Sering Gorge from Badlands, being ganked by 2 (in my case) horde's with nothing better to do, which sends you to the Thorium Point graveyard as a ghost, res at the spirit healer, and voila! costs you a bit of money, 10 min or so of res sickness, but thats probably alot less than the time needed to walk there...

It's fairly obvious, but: lots of fire resist mobs in this zone. If you're a fire mage, skip this zone.

My partner and I just went to searing gorge from Dun Moragh, Just by the south pass you go up the mountain north onto the top of the pass (not the gully with the ore the next one along) then you can run up to the mountains above. (79,50)
to put the coords up
with the latest (2.01) /mn -tloc 79,50
once up the top at 82,49 run south round the peaks to 81,63 then you have to go off that peak north to avoid dying in the fall. carry round west skirting the gorge until you get to 68,67 then drop down south again into the gorge proper. (you may have to be careful when I did this with my pally there was a 600+ hp drop, keep along the walls after going across the basin with the cranes, then slip into Thorium camp and get the FP.

If you stand outside of the Searing Gorge gate in North gate Pass, you can click the lever.

Your on the other side of the gate
1. Go next to where the lever is
2. Get to a spot where the little action wheel over the lever turns gold and right click it
3. It opens. Go through the tunnel and open the next one which is easier because it is inside the tunnel.
Voila! Your in Searing Gorge

I spend an insane amount of time looking for above mentioned door to Searing Gorge which is NOT in the North gate Pass, nor in the South gate pass (man, did I touch a lot of square meter of wall to see if suddenly an invisible door would pop up), BUT in the Valley of Kings, at the bottom, coords 18,84.

After hours of trying to figure out how to get here...there is a VERY simple path from the Badlands (which ally can get to from Thesalmar).

In Badlands, run to the West border and at (0,63) you'll find a path that runs west into Searing Gorge. Tadah!

Great place to lvl up for the mid 45-50 Toons.
Not bad for miners too. Good Mithril and some Dark Iron and Thorium veins are available.

There's only few quests in this zone... I started the zone at 46, then after i completed all the quests, i was lvl 47.. So theres enough quest to get 1lvl... So its not really a good zone for questing BUT if you are grinding, its the best place ever. ;)

For Horde, the only way in is via Badlands, Redridge or Warlock Summon. I reccommend having a mount or this will take a LONG time depending on where you leave from.

From Arathi Highlands (reccommended Level 45+):

Ride through the Alliance-Friendly Pass in Wetlands into Loch Modan. Follow the path past Thelsamar and cut across the mountains. Go southwest around the mountains and the Southeast (this is from your PoV, reverse if you're doing this from the map's PoV). You should see the Entrance to Badlands. Go west (grabbing the Horde-only FP =D) and then South through the hidden pass into SG. Go around the Cauldron and then North to Thorium Point for FP.

From Stranglethorn Vale (Reccommended Level 55+):

Ride north past the Rebel Camp (Alliance) into Duskwood. Take the Right Path and ride north through Darkshire into Redridge. Take the right path at the intersection and follow it through Lakeshire. Keep Riding northwest into Burning Steppes. Ride north to Horde FP and then West to Blackrock Mountains. Emerge in Searing Gorge and keep going North to Thorium Point for FP.

Either way obviously you're gonna get mobbed by Alliance NPCs at Darkshire, Thelsamar and Redridge. If you're a Warlock Fear them or use Frost Nova if you're a Mage. Otherwise just keep going. Obviously it's suicide for anyone to attempt from Stranglethorn under level 50 so...yeah. Doing it from Arathi is possible at 40 but not reccommended unless you're prepared to fight off Half a dozen Dwarves per pass.

If you go down to the SW corner, to Blackchar Cave, look on your mini map when it's completely zoomed out.. I wonder if this is supposed to be someone real or not :)

I have just run through the Dwarf lands, used the passage from the Badlands and on the way out, the alternate route through the Black Mountain PvP area back down into the Burning Steppes.

I think the Black Mountain route would be far easier to find for those people not using coordinate add-ons.

On the North side on the Burning Steppes, there is a huge ramp leading up into Black Mountain. If you ride in, you will be dis-mounted. The place is empty when not involved in a PvP event.

You will then be told you are on the "Molten Span," which is a crescent-shaped walkway around a lava pit. Just follow the walkway and it will bring you to an exit to Searing Gorge just like the one you entered through from The Burning Steppes.

Go to the burning steppes and head to Black Rock Mountain... Blackrock Mountain connects the 2 zones together so head in the Burning Steppes side and u can exit the searing gorge side... or vise verse...

There are at least 7 separate entrances to caves in this zone (The Slag Pit, Firewatch Ridge, etc), and most of them are in the Cauldron, very close to each other. Each can lead to more-or-less a different to cave; and there are often quests that require going in one or another specific cave. There is no way to see a full map of the caves in-game (unless you've got a real good mod); you can normally only see whatever portion fits in your minimap--and even then, sometimes more than one cave overlap.

Sometimes it's extremely difficult find the right entrance you need at a given time (especially since a couple of them require precise, challenging moves just to get to).

What I'd like to know, is there a website (or a mod) where I can see the maps OF THE CAVES (& I don't mean the instances), and which entrance (as visible on the world map) leads to each? If so, can you please a link to it? (my Google-fu is weak) :(

Hi. is there some sort of rep requirement to get the searing gorge quests? I did all of them with my hunter and druid but no quests are available when i went there with my DK. I wanted to get some greens for DE in that lvl range and figured i might as well do the quests while im grinding. thanks.

The cave entrances on the north side of the Cauldron marked on the map lead to the Slag Pit.

There are two lifts on the north side that take you down to the Pit. The more easterly one only takes you down one level -get off and go west (you can't go east) to catch the second lift down another level. Also, note that the entrances can be easy to miss if you're not careful. There is also a path that leads down to the bottom of the Cauldron from the south side -look for the path that has railway ties on it (the Cauldron is a bit of a maze so try not to get too frustrated finding your way around).

Now as for the Pit itself, the mobs are 45-48, so it can be challenging (if you're 45) or suicidal (if you're below 45). The boxes you need to open are almost invariably situated near mobs you'll have to clear first. The "slaves" are hostile to you and will run when they get to about 20% health, so use cripping poision. At 45 you should ALWAYS expect an add if you attack a mob - the 48 Dark Iron Taskmasters in particular have a large aggro radius. Use evasion if you get an add, bring healing potions, and don't attack unless vanish is available. The Dark Iron mobs, unlike the slaves, don't flee when they get low on health.

Also, contrary to what the previous poster said, there are boxes to open on the east side of the door that seperates the area in half.

The best way to this area if you're lower level is to follow a group that is clearing the mobs, but of course that isn't always possible.
