Does anyone know how to unlock the dailies to get this item? I'm able to do The Aberrations Must Die but the other ones aren't open, from anywhere I've looked atleast. I've done every quest I could find in the zone and still aren't opening.

All 4 dailies start at Gretta the Arbiter. The quests alternate much like the fishing/cooking dailies. You cannot do all four every day. The Hyldnir Spoils bag contains 1-2 gold, and usually something else such as snowballs. There is a chance you can get the Polar Bear mount, though it is a low drop.

All 4 dailies do require level 80, so you won't see them until then.

EDIT: After going back a third day now, I recieved 2 dailies to do, both the frozen egg and the defender one. Perhaps you can get 2 a day though it seems random.

This is the reward from the 4 dailys above, 2 random dailies will be chosen every day. Tho my personal expirence is that the mount is within the first 1-2.

Further more, its easy dailies, and 3 snowballs each is ehm... a greenie would be better (Like the old bags from SSO).

I was able to do "Defending your title" and "The Aberrations Must Die" as 78, the others however are not open to me (as dailies anyways). I've completed all 4 regular quests. Also from both spoil bags all I got was
bag 1: 1g and cheese
bag 2: 1g and Snow ball x4

I went out there today to see what dailies I could do.

It let me do "Back to the Pit" and "The Aberrations Must Die". However when I handed in the Back To The Pit one, although it gave me the reward, it made the error sound and says in the chat log "You do not meet the requirements for that quest". Which is really weird..

I've only been able to do Back to the Pit and The Abberations Must Die for the last 4 days. Randomly it seems I'm able to do both, the first day I could do both, second only the Abberations, third was both, and fourth is Abberations. 12 snowballs and some food, and 8g from the bags so far no mount =-(
I was able to pick up these quests at 77, not sure how far into the quest chain, I had finished the quest chain when i first noticed them.

It seems that like everyone else has said, every time I go here I can get different dailies. Why this is could be one of two things;

a) a bug
b) Blizzard just trying to mix things up a bit.

I seem to never get more than two dailies offered. It might be a bit of Polar Bear Control!

Oh, but I did get my Polar Bear on the second quest I did with them :) I didn't even know it could drop...! Nice surprise for me :)

The following is a rant. Out of the 4 dailies offered 2 of them are actually fun. The pit is fun, easy and fast to complete. The exhausted miner one is somewhat fun and easy to complete. I forgot what the other daily is because i have yet to get it again.

As for The Abberations Must Die... The drop rate sucks. You have to travel a good distance to get there. Those stupid angel like bird things are annoying as sin and do not drop the quest item. The spawn rate on the quest mobs is terrible and if people are there camping too you are going to waste a lot of time. Then you have to break the eggs after getting around 5 quest items which is even more time consuming. Every time i get this daily i sigh.

The best part about The Abberations Must Die is that i get it every damn day. So far i have been able to do 2 dailies per day however today i was only able to do 1 and it was The Abberations Must Die... Go figure. I just hate the daily and wish the other dailies popped up more often. I guess i will put up with it though for a chance at a polar bear. I have opened about 10+ spoils so far on my DK, no luck yet.

This is an obvious bug, and I can't believe nobody thought of this before..

Obviously the questgiver is supposed to choose two random quests, but the spreadsheet wasn't told to check for a double.. so it's choosing abborations twice.. and since you cannot get a quest twice it's only giving the option of one quest.

I too received the error message and the requirements note. I could definatly see this being part of the next patch update.

There are 4 daily quests which can award this bag/chance for the polar bear mount. Each one is opened by completing different quest chains in the area. The Aberrations Must Die quest is available every day. The other 3 are a random set, 1 of the set is available per day. If you haven't opened up the chosen one for that day, you will only be able to do the Aberrations quest, otherwise you will have 2 available per day.

I have checked this area and finished the offered dailies each day for the past week. Twice there has been only one quest offered. It seems that "The Aberrations Must Die" is a true daily while the others seem to be chosen from a pool. My theory is that there is a bugged fourth quest that blizz has turned off, but has not taken it out of the pool.

The quest where you ride a dragon and use the hook to go to another wyrm and attack its rider is the one that I would is supposed to be the missing daily. Or I am just crazy and should find a new hobby.

I've done every quest through this area and am flat out not offered ANY dailies from this chick. I don't know if its a bug or I am missing something, but I am curious if other people are having this issue.

to start with, i got 2 dailies, 2 days in a row

now suddently, i've only gotten 1 daily in a row.. (for 2 consecutive days)

You have a 0.8% chance of getting the mount per spoil bag, so...

if you were able to get both dailys every day it would bring the chance of that mount dropping on the day up to 1.6%

so it would take a total of 63 days to nearly guarentee the mount!

so if you're doing them every day you should have them by early 2009 (hoping that blizz will fix the bug about the dailys by then) to mid 2009!

I know everyone hates these kinds of posts, but I did all the quests and then got the daily to go back out again and kill 30 more eggs. I was about to just log cause I don't have epic flight but decided to fly an hour there and did it. Came back and got my spoils and there was the mount. So if you've done it over the past 45 days and nothing, keep at it. And in the next patch, it will be it's normal size, which is awesome.

People who are complaining about the Polar Bear mount not dropping in the bag need to look at how rare it is. Just keep going for it and it will drop eventually. Until then enjoy the food and extra gold that you obtain!

It seems, you must do every quest in the area. Different NPC's unlock different dailys which are all given at random by one NPC.

After reading the post below, I looked around and found 2 !'s. I did these and now can get a daily today.

So far I've gotten, Defending your title, Maintaining discipline, and today it seems I unlocked The aberrations must die. I've yet to see Back to the pit although I have done the line.

From what I can see, the quest giver has a 100% chance to give you the quest 'The Aberrations Must Die'. It then has a chance to give you a second quest, one of the three others. In my experience, it's about a 50% chance to get two dailies. I don't know if it's SUPPOSED to be like this or not, but it does seem the pattern thus far.

Also, got my bear yesterday. On the character I got it on, I have done the dailies maybe 5 times. On my main, at least 40 times and no mount. Luck is weird sometimes, I guess.

Not sure if it was luck, or an odd bug, but last week, I got the mount then my guildmate got the mount two hours later, and then a third guy got the mount the same time my guildmate did. I'd love to see the Vegas odds on that happening.

It's all a matter of probability, as many of the comments above have explained. That would just be a case of a few ppl getting really lucky. The chances are the same for everyone, as there are an infinite number of mounts.

Obtaining an item with a low drop rate in wow is simply a matter of luck and dedication. It will drop eventually if you keep trying. Some will get the mount with ease and for others it will take a really really long time. For example, I ran ZA over 50 times and didnt see a single https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=33453 drop (and that is supposedly a 13% drop rate).

The quest for this is >still< bugged as of 2009 January 27, 12:45 AM (Perenolde server time). I got the error sound and "You do not meet the requirements for that quest" message. Kind of annoying. :-P

As far as I can see there isnt. There is enough dailies out there that give give you 13G instead of the 9G you get from this, and the possible other items you can get from the spoils doesnt cover that loss. Its not much for one day, but in the long run it stacks up.
One way to make people do this quest more often after the mount would be to add another rare drop, for example a 1% drop on an egg that has a 10% drop of a proto drake mount from the pools you are destroying the eggs.
And yes, I do see the conflict in that as there would be no reason you would be given an egg/abboration you are out to destroy, but its just a suggestion to get people to do the quests after the mount has dropped.

I have the Storm Peaks quest achievement and i am pretty sure I have done all the quests... but I still only get "back to the pit" and "maintaining discipline: at random, never both. My lock, who has done only enough quests to get to do the sons of hodir rep qsts, can do all of them. strange.

You do get a Plagued Proto-Drake for completing all of the 10-man raid achievements, and it looks just like the blighted ones you're talking about.

I do see your point, though, and I wish there was more to the Hyldnir Spoils than just the polar bear and a smattering of junk.

Chance of getting a bear in 7 consecutive days doing both dailies: 10.64%
Chance of getting a bear in 30 days : 38.24%
Chance of getting a bear in 60 days: 61.86%
Chance of getting a bear in 365 days : 99.72%

Note that above it says doing both dailies. Since this has been corrected to where you only get one daily per day, the percentages are cut in half for the same timeframe, since the number of dailies are cut in half.. So:

Chance of getting a bear in 7 consecutive days: 5.32%
Chance of getting a bear in 30 days : 19.12%
Chance of getting a bear in 60 days: 30.93%
Chance of getting a bear in 365 days : 49.86%
Thus, chance of getting a bear in 730 days: 99.72%

2 years if you are really unlucky, which I probably am... >.>

You are incorrect.
You can't simply divide the chance by 2, that's the same as adding probabilities.

Welcome to Probabilities 101!

If you flip a coin, you have a 50% chance to get Heads.
If you get Tails instead, a second flip will also give you 50% chance of Heads.
Therefore, in two flips, you have a 75% chance to get one Heads.

The Math:

You have a one in two chance to get Heads. That's 1/2, or 50/100.
50 / 100 = 0.5 (or 50%)

Your next attempt is also 50%, but since you already "used up" 50%, so to speak, you take 50% of the remaining 50%, then add it to the original chance.
( 50 / 100 ) *

50% * (100% - 50%)
( 0.5 * 0.5 ) = 0.25
50% * 50% = 25%
Add 0.25 and 0.5 to get 0.75
Or 25% + 50% = 75%

One more flip?
0.75 +
0.75 + ( 0.5 * 0.25 )
0.75 + 0.125 = 0.875
Or 75% + 12.5% = 87.5%

And now to disprove your "half the number of dailies = half the probability" theory.

ex:
Chance of getting bear after...
30 days, two dailies per day:
60 dailies: 38.24% (divided by 2 = 19.12%)
Versus 30 days, one daily per day:
30 dailies: 21.41%

Oops! 21.41 isn't the same as 19.12! Yipes.
Here's the real numbers with 1 daily each day:

Chance of bear in 7 consecutive days : 5.47%
Chance of bear in 30 days : 21.41%
Chance of bear in 60 days: 38.24%

Well, I don't know about that 1%. I opened up the first Spoils bag reward I got, and the bear dropped. I immediately came here to see the drop rate and to my surprise, I guess I just got REALLY lucky. Though, for a quick five minute quest, even if it didn't drop, it's not a terrible daily to do, considering at level 80 you get 9.8 gold, too.

Getting your reins of the polar bear can take forever, as I can attest.

Honestly it's not worth it, the mount basically sucks. I finally got mine after at least 6 months of farming this quest. At least I had the argent tourney quest to come out here for otherwise it would have been even more of a waste of time.

I had no idea the Hyldnir Bag of Spoils contained such a neat mount. I only visit Gretta the Arbitter if I'm in Dun Niffelem doing the SoH dailies, or getting mats for my jewelcrafting daily. Now that I know about it, I'm definitely going to keep doing them.
Some might consider it a waste of time, but it's a better deal than picking up the Oracles' Egg every week. At least this way I get some gold while I'm at it.

Actually each trial or bag drop is considered independent of each other. Therefore after 1000 completions, the chance of getting the bear will always be 1%. Therefore it is certainly possible to keep trying this, daily, till 2012 (from sometime in 2009), and still not get the bear.

Confirmed as of 3/6/11. The mount does still drop and it can drop from any of the dailies. Somehow I've been *extremely* lucky with mounts lately and got this one after about a week of dailies. So yes it drops, go for it. You too can have your very own bear in a bag :)

That area is bugged since the maintenance on August 30. But if you walk into the mine, then back out, you should get the Brunnhildar villager disguise and be able to pick up the daily. (Assuming you've done the prerequisites)

Hyldnir Spoils which is reward from every 4 dailies quest in Brunhildar village in Storm Peaks(northrend)

3 quests in Brunhildar village:
Back to the Pit You have to use Reins of the Warbear Matriarch and kill another 6 bears. Quite a boring but easy =)
Defending Your Title You must challange to 6 Victorious Challenger and win the clash. Easy again =)
Maintaining Discipline you have to go in the cave and use your Disciplining Rod to turn 6 Exhausted Vrykuls into Captive Vrykul.

1 quest at Valkyrion(west Storm Peaks)
The Aberrations Must Die you must kill Valkyrion Aspirant and obtain at least 5 Vial of Frost Oil and go to freeze 30 eggs in nearby lagoon(with 5 vials you must freeze egg groups with 6 eggs(but i discovered one with 7!))

i just wanted to add, some people say that there are 2 quest dropping a day. i have unloacked every quest and only one drops per day and all the quest that drop, come from gretta 50, 65 cords. it picks 1 of the 4 quest randomly per day.

Do not enter the village on your sandstone drake (Vial of Sands) you can't transform into a Brunnhildar lady if you're already transformed into a drake, so you WILL be attacked, just a warning ;)

If you have a sandstone drake, you can fly into town here, and kill everyone, since it won't let you transform into your alter-ego. I use this frequently when after handing in the daily, she doesn't give me my mount. Sickens me, that after 2 days I got this mount on an alt char, but after doing it daily for over a year, I still havent gotten it on my main char.... I hate blizzard sometimes.

As stated a bit below, as of the new patch, you can only do ONE daily per day and not two. Getting the bear just got a bit more valuable :)

If you are on a mount ( fly or run ) you didn't see any daily quest. You need to be unmount and speak her. Then she gives the quest.
