Just solved this thanks to an overabundance of Vrykul fragments leftover from the Nerubian grind (and got professor off this, woot)

As reported from the PTR, this item gives you a 10 minute buff, it makes your character larger (not sure % but it is noticeable), and puts the graphic of an old common Wrath helm on you (same model as Corona dei Re Dimenticati).

It does not replace your head slot as it is merely a graphical buff. The horn itself appears to have no cooldown. I removed the buff, clicked the horn, removed the buff, clicked the horn over and over, each time applying a new 10 minute buff. Doesn't have charges either.

I just got this on live, and it does not get you drunk. It does make you larger, and it replaces your helm with one of those spiky plate NR helms everyone use to have in patch 3.0. Turning off helms in the interface does not turn off the graphic, and while the horn buff does allow the elixir of giant growth to be used, the two do not stack to increase size together.

Just got it. Amongst the cool things mentioned it also scales the mount size. Particularly nice for Sandstone Drake :)

For those of you who like to try and get as big as you can, I just got this and tested to see if it stacks with the size increase you get from equipping Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat and it does.

if you happen to be worgen using two-forms whilst you have the buff to go from worgen to human and then back will remove the helm look but still leave you with increased size

By far one of the coolest non-equipment archaeology rares. Free getting big and viking helmet for 10 minutes any time you want? I keep both this item and the buff on me at virtually all times. I just hope they don't nerf it later by giving it a cooldown.

Since this thing currently has no cooldown and doesn't trigger the GCD, annoy your raid by binding it to every ability.

And finally, after years, Blizzard ruined it by adding a short cast time.

I just got this item, and I can say that this is essentially a free, infinite Elixir of Giant Growth minus the strength. Pretty cool for those that, like me, like showing off their huge mounts in SW :P
Stacks with Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat.
Edit: forgot to mention that while both growth buffs from this item and burgy's hat stack, the vrykul helm will not show while in "burgy form".

Ok, i'm going to post a screen shot of this soon. You can use Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat while on the Reins of the Kor'kron Annihilator with your Vrykul Drinking Horn. Once you do this you put your normal helm back on and you are the size of the Orgrimmar Auction house door

This is how all of the Archaeology cosmetic effect rares should function. 1 second cooldown, 10 minute effect.
It makes no sense to spend so much time looking for these rares to get a 20 second effect and a 10 minute cooldown.

The only way it could be any worse, is if they were all also trinkets.

There is also a graphic for the horn itself, which is not always visible. The graphic sometimes comes up just before the massive "vrykul roar"... I will try and upload a screenie

I love the growth effect on my female Tauren (she gets really massive!) but hate the helm. I found that when I used Faded Wizard Hat and then the horn that I got the growth spurt while in the costume but the helm didn't show, which is nice :).

I was already at 425 for ZG, it didn't take long to go pop the horn. After the craft I was at 510.

I went to get it because this item is awesome. It's like a bottomless Winterfall Firewater potion. It has a 10min duration with no cd or charges. You can be huge as much as you want forever if you like. I'm also an illusionist(Owning almost every illusion item) and find that this stacks with any illusion. I E if I fire my locket then chug this drink I'm a huge night elf chick. Huge dwarf via Flask with this I also like. But my fav is gigantic pirate gnome. The pirate hat already made you bigger than a normal gnome, so with this on top of it you're an absurdly large pirate gnome, with a HUUUUGE mount.

When you're under the effect of this buff, your mounts are increased in size too. Nothing like riding a huge mammoth to a battle.

This macroed with Battle Shout (it doesn't trigger a gcd) is EPIC fun on my undead warrior. Not sure if the helm would look very good on other races lol.

Has anyone tested this out with Blaze of Glory. If its anything like health modifiers using Last Stand it should multiply % wise rather than just add a 10% extra. 16 stacks of Blaze of Glory or so multiplied by an extra 10% would be... rather large.

So I'm just leveling Archaeology, trying to get to max so I can go do Tol'Vir sites.

Suddenly, ! 1 of the only 2 items I actually want from this drawn-out grind! I rush off to find the fragments for it, luckily finding 3 Keystones in the process.

Finally in Storm Peaks, I get enough fragments for it; somewhat like a giggling schoolgirl at this point, I click on the item.

Lo and behold... giant Night Elf.
...and ugly, buff-related helmet.

Nah but seriously this may be my favorite vanity item atm. I use this as a human and tower over even the largest Tauren or Worgen. Considering humans descended from Vykrul it appeals to the inner lore nerd in me as well!

The Vrykul Drinking Horn is an absolutely epic item. It increases you *and your mount's* size by 20% for ten minutes. The instant cast and one second cooldown means you can keep the effect up indefinitely if you wish.

This DOES stack with Iron Boot Flask I just took the horn first and the flask second for a BIG dwarf! Slightly larger then a male Tauren.

Macro fun time for shadow/disc priests!

Make a macro with the following:

/cast Archangel
/use Vrykul Drinking Horn

-optional: if you have the Druid and Priest Statue Set from Night elf digs, you can throw that into the macro (the statue only works outside but if you're inside it wont break the macro) after the horn with:

/use Druid and Priest Statue Set

With this macro everytime you pop your wings you'll growl, grow a little in size and gain the wings.

Should also work for paladins (or any class with a dps cooldown really) with Avenging Wrath instead of Archangel:

/cast Avenging Wrath
/use Vrykul Drinking Horn
/use Druid and Priest Statue Set

Absolutely awesome in conjunction with Sandstone Drake

I macroed the horn to the Sandstone drake cast:

#showtooltip Sandstone Drake
/use Vrykul Drinking Horn
/cast Sandstone drake

When used the horn causes you to stick your chest out and throw your arms back as you roar. As if you're transforming Hulk-like and then wham, you're an (extra large) dragon! Yes it does make the drake bigger, by about 30%
