It is, this new Blizz post confirms it!

We’ve been following discussions and reading feedback on the Dungeon Finder Call to Arms feature, and appreciate everyone’s opinions on the topic. We wanted to share a few items though that supplement the recent announcement:

The additional reward for completing the Dungeon Finder Call to Arms (called the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries) will be Bind on Account; able to be freely sent to other characters on your account once you receive it.

An error existed in the announcement regarding flasks and potions being picked based on your spec. This is not the case. If someone earns a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries, and if it rolls the random chance to provide a potion or flask, it will be a randomly selected. This helps ensure a broad array of available flasks and potions for all characters.

We also wanted to clarify, mounts that have a possibility to be found in a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries are found with the same rarity as if you had slain the dungeon boss that normally drops them.

So, to sum it up, this is the bag you gain as a reward for doing a "Call to arms:" Instance, these are normal instances with additional reward, because your class is needed more than others.
This can contain random flasks, and some rare mounts, and the satchel is account bound!

This will be a BoA reward for completing heroic dungeons as an in demand class--for example if there are no tanks queuing and you are a tank, you will get this. Interesting thing that I'm wondering:
can you look into the bag, check what's in (without auto-loot)
And send the bag to a char who doesn't have the mount that's in there already?

Similar to the box with the fishing diary, where you can look into, and when the book is in it, you can send / sell it to someone else.

I cleared a random Cataclysm heroic as a Call-to-Arms role for the second time tonight, but didn't receive a satchel. I had obtained my first satchel earlier and had no bag space issues either time. The CtA feature was inactive on the dungeon finder by the time it was over.

It's likely that the satchel is only rewarded when the feature is active the moment you down the final boss. If that's the case, it'd be discouraging to much-needed roles and CtA would lose its effectiveness in encouraging them to run more randoms.

Edit: To answer Azrile's question, no, we didn't lose any group members the whole run.

I have used this to send money xfraction from my alliance mains that get the bags to my horde twink, usually i take out the item first but got an alliance vendor pet one time so send it with it since it will be worth more on horde

What if a tank queues whilst being Called to Arms, and at some point in the dungeon, a player leaves. They requeue to find another player to take the final spot, but tanks have come off Call to Arms. Does that mean that tank no longer gets a satchel since they queued at the point that Call to Arms wasn't active?

When we just cleared the dungeon I had queued for with CtA active and with having 2 people leave and us requeueing while in there, CtA wasn't active anymore at the end (or at least didn't show from the LFG interface when I checked) but I still got the satchel.

It seems the Call to Arms for your role must be active when you enter the dungeon.
If you queue for a random dungeon when it is active, but it's no longer active when you enter, you will not get the Satchel.

It doesn't take a lot of effort to level a tank (or even a healer) to 85 and gear up nowadays with all of the BoA benefits, guild benefits, and dungeon queues.. if you have a dps main do what many of us have done and level a tank alt to get this bag and then mail it back.. not that hard of a concept. I was complaining about the likelihood of this being a tank/healer only item for a while before I realized it's not that difficult to put in a little extra effort to make a tank myself.

If you're too lazy to go level a tank (which is significantly easier than dps, imo.. instant queues, more survivability) then stop complaining that you can't get this bag as a dps.

It would seem that there is a slight, possibly intended glitch in the system that results in players who queued for Call to Arms to not receive their satchels, and I believe I may have pinpointed the exact cause.

As has likely been observed by most people, you cannot queue in a group of any makeup and receive the Call to Arms reward; you must queue as the needed role (usually tank/healer) by yourself. The only exception to this rule is if you requeue with a random group after finishing an instance which you solo queued for. This is normal, expected, and working as intended.

Furthermore, if another player leaves or is kicked during the instance, you can requeue to find a replacement and still receive your satchel, even if the Call to Arms for your role is no longer available from a fresh queue, as long as you don't change roles (i.e. switch from tanking to dpsing). However, if you manually invite someone while still in the dungeon group before you've killed the final boss, you will lose your ability to receive the satchel.

This is where the tricky part comes in.

If anyone else in the group manually invites another player, even from a different realm, you will not receive the satchel at the end of the dungeon. I'll use my Heroic Grim Batol run from a few days ago as an example. I queued on my paladin as a tank for a random heroic (Call to Arms for tanking was up when I queued). After the first boss, one of the dps left the group. Another dps was the current dungeon guide, and instead of requeuing to find another dps with the dungeon finder, he manually invited a guildmate. After killing Erudax, I did not receive my Call to Arms satchel because even though they were both from a different realm, another player was manually invited to the group during the instance.

As far as I know, this is the only reason one would not receive their satchel after solo queuing for Call to Arms, barring the irregular bugs, of course. I personally hope that this is simply an oversight on Blizzard's part and not "Working As Intended," as this could cause some occasional, probably unintentional grief to tanks and healers.

tl;dr: If anyone manually invites anyone else during the run, you won't get your bag.

Whenever I look inside the bag before I autoloot I never get anything other than gold and flasks and gems. HOWEVER, when idgaf and just autoloot, I get Tourney pets, Drakes, and Raven Lords. PLURAL!

I tried to get a GM to put it back in the Satchel, or at least give it to an alt, but they said it was impossible. Destroying that extra Raven Lord literally made me nauseous. Just thinking about it makes my stomach clench up.

I can confirm that Redini del Proto-Draco Blu drops from this. It dropped for me today, which made me extremely happy, as I was farming the Blue and Green Proto-Drakes and the Daily Quest Bear for weeks without ever seeing them drop in WotLK for over a year.

There have been some repetitive issues with people NOT receiving the Satchel, even though they appropriately queued for a random dungeon and were promised the satchel. Blizzard has explained some of the potential causes -- such as needing to replace a single person during the dungeon run. (REALLY! Like that never happens?)

Basically, as a result of repeatedly not receiving my satchel, after queueing up in good faith, I resentfully feel even less incentive to tank or heal a random dungeon than I did before this was offered.

It also seems like, for "satchel runs", you are somehow paired to a group which is already having problems, or in which problems might be anticipated. Satchel runs almost always seem to take longer and are more difficult. (because of a more poorly-geared tank, healer or lower-output DPS players) And if you're going to lose your satchel because someone in that run needs to be replaced, then it seems like Blizzard is shooting this idea in the foot.

No matter what you do, no matter what happens do not give up Dungeon guide to anyone, this guarantees your Satchel of Exotic Mysteries. If you are not dungeon guide, or give it up to someone else, you are playing russian roulette, I learned it the hard way. If anybody leaves or gets kicked, and the dungeon guide groups someone instead of requeuing for a random, you can say goodbye to the satchel. So if you go for that satchel (most likely a tank), queue as dungeon guide, if you don't have it, request it. So much for "You are queuing for theses rewards", right ahah...

Mounts have its own slot in the satchel. So a satchel contains :
- Gold, always
- A flask, a potion, a gem or a pet, always
- A mount, very rarely

So you can get a mount and a flask both in the same satchel, for example.

On the other hand, if you logout while queued for a dungeon and log back in BEFORE the setup is being chosen, you're still queued. This tip is mostly useful for DPSers, so you can queue for a random hc and you can log on some alts do quick stuff before you assume the group is ready.

When you queue for CTA, once the pop requires you to confirm "enter dungeon", make sure the satchel has not disappeared from the tiny recap list of rewards (golds+points+satchel). Because the satchel can disappear at anytime, if another tank has filled the last CTA spot. If that happens just refuse the invitation, wait a few seconds, if lucky, the CTA will start over again, because the system no longer has you to fill up the last group! If you get very unlucky, or didn't pay attention, and you click "enter dungeon" at the exact same time the satchel disappear from the tiny list recap. You will not get the satchel. Once the confirmation is made, the deal is final, if the satchel was shown, you will always get it.

A trick that can help reduce being trapped is to be in a major city, and confirm your role as fast as possible (before everybody else confirmed their role), so if you have seen the satchel disappear from the tiny recap, just logout, and you will be automaticly cancelled from the group. I find it unfair, that the CTA is asking for your help and at the last second it says "well no no, actually we want you to run that dungeon for free, thanks for queuing".

If you ever wondered why sometimes you have not gotten your satchel, this is why. Enjoy never loosing a satchel ever again!

I can confirm that the Giant Sewer Rat from fishing at Dalaran also may drop from these bags. It was a friend of mine who doesn't have wowhead addon installed who got it, therefore have no meaning to prove it, so treat this as you may.

So far I've received the disgusting oozeling on two different occasions but it doesn't show up as dropping from this bag. Makes you wonder what else is missing. <I do use the wowhead data client>

I don't see it in the list but I just got a Tiny Crimson Whelpling out of my satchel. I'm not trying to be one of those people who brags about what's in the satchel, I just wanted to pass on the info.

Satchel of Exotic mysteries is an extra reward u get when u que to dungeon finder as Tank Call to Arms, u get the bag and the valor points that u also get. if u dont understand this since im prob an ass at explaining it ill try and say it again, go to dungeon finder, then go to the list where u can chose the dungeon kind u want (for example Random Hour of Twillight) then go under Random Hour of twillight or Random Cata Dungeons Heroic, but note that u can only get the bag if there is a call to arms on the tank. if theres not Call to Arms then u dont get the bag.

Just got a Tiny Emerald Whelpling from my 12th ever bag, and I remembered it wasn't on the list. Ecstatic about this, I killed 18,000 Noxious Whelps and no whelp, so though even a Dark Whelpling will sell for 20k+ on my Server, this guy'll be following me around permanently.

If he's in there, you'd think there's a shot at Dark, Azure and Tiny Crimsons, too =D

You may be interested to know that from each bag you have a 1.33% chance to receive a mount and a 12.06% chance to receive a companion*.

It is unknown whether they share a loot spot or not; it may be technically possible (though astronomically unlikely) to receive a mount and a companion in the same bag.

*Derived from wowhead's loot statistics, which are by nature incomplete but still fairly accurate.

CTA Queue Macro:

Purpose: Queries the CTA buff every 10s, if the CTA buff is present then queue for LFD and stop checking for CTA. Additionally provides a stop button in the upper left hand corner of the screen to stop checking the CTA buff.

Usage: Run the first macro when ever your UI is reloaded. To start watching for the CTA buff hit the 2nd macro.I created a third macro that calls them both in order. Your macro to do so will vary depending on what buttons you put these macros.

hey guys i just want to say how absolutely random these actually are on my dk tank ive gotten 1 mount 4 pets 3 flasks and 3 gems from 11 satchels meenwhile on my druid iv done 23 satchels gotten 12 flasks 10gems and 1 pet worth about 100g while ime incredibly lucky to of gotten my green proto on my main this is definately NOT a reliable way to farm pets/mounts and as usual with blizzard its random as hell >.>

So my bro has gotten the reivers death charger and green proto drake and the epic parrot cage and i have gotten atleast 5 times more of those satchels than him but have only ever gotten like 3 gems a few flasks and 2 common pets im just wondering how he has such good luck with them because he doesnt even intend to get the satchel

The percentages in the current loot table add up to 11.8% for a companion (about 1 per 8.5 satchels; 10.6% tradable and 1.2% BoP) and 1.23% for a mount (about 1 per 80 satchels; always BoP).

Collecting all 7 BoP mounts from satchels would take about 1452 of them (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupon_collector's_problem), so once you have 4 or 5 of them, you're probably better off farming the rest from their old source.

What mounts have players seen drop from the bag?
Wowhead only lists the green proto-drake. I seen one post say they have seen the ravenlord but I seen a few saying they had the green proto...which I feel as well is the biggest mount drop.
Since...It is the only mount i seen drop...twice so far.

Anyways, anybody seen any other mounts other than the green proto contained inside this bag?

Meh..... Been farming these since they came out as a feral tank....
The ONLY thing worth mentioning was some pet that I sold for 2k.
I keep only getting some potions and a bit of gold... No mounts..... Nothing :(

Satchel of Exotic Mysteries is an extra reward u get wen theres a "Call to Arms" on Tank or Healer and u will recive it after have completed the dungeon. in Satchel of Exotic Mysteries there will b some money and then there can be items, flask's, elexir's, gems, companions or a mount. you will normaly just get a gem or a elexir but if you are lucky then you will get a mount or a nice companion :)
some of these companions and mounts can even give you an Achivement :)
the mounts with a low drop chance ofc but theres still a chance :)
this money u get from Satchel of Exotic Mysteries will also get you closer to Got My Mind On My Money and thats also nice :)
some of these companions sell for about 20-80k gold maybe even more and thats also some kind of money ;)
and i can tell you wen u get the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries then it will contain:

Money, every time

a flask, gem or companion, also every time

and a mount that ofc also can b a flying mount :) is very rare

and if your main is not a tank or a healer but u do have a tank or a healer, then its just great that its BoA :D that means that u can send it to your main or another char u want to send the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries to :)

but u can also lose, or not get the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries by not being the dungeon guide :( if some one leaves or gets kicked and you que for another random dungeon u can say bye-bye to your Satchel of Exotic Mysteries and thats like :( and >_< so que up for dungeon guide and dont make any 1 rage or leave :) or kick them either ^_^

These bags really make me mad. It does not provide any incentive for someone to tank, but rather just free stuff for existing tanks that us normal people have to get by doing it the hard way. Makes me rage when I ask someone how many eggs the Green Proto Drake took them, and they say they got it from a bag first try. seriously makes me rage.

This morning I qued for a healer position in Dungeon Finder.... I never do it, but I opened up the wrong panel and saw that the Satchel was available to a healer.... So I figured what the heck right?

Reins of the Green Proto-Drake dropped out of the bag!

I then noticed that my Oracle egg had hatched, so I clicked it open..... and got another =\

Have been farming this satchel for a long time now, never won any mount, but got lots of pets.
Just wanted to tell you that I got two pets that arent listed here (I dont know why)
I got Emerald Whelpling (Draghetto di Smeraldo) and Firefly (Lucciola Domestica)
I havent got any evidence of this, because at that time, I didnt know these pets weren't listed here. The other day when I read this page i was quite surprised.
Just wanted to add some information, im not lying (why would i waste some time doing a useless post?), but i dont have any evidence to prove my statement.
You can check me in the armory and see that i have both pets. (Ksi, Blackwing lair)

I really wish more people would run the wowhead looter program so we could have more accurate data on this bag, it seems to drop pretty much every companion pet (that is currently available elsewhere), yet most of the rarer ones aren't on the list.

i use an addon on my healers called lfg call to arms broker that notifies me when call to arms is up so i can make sure i can queue up for these bags in my spare time.

this seems just a little unfair ... see as its mostly tanks and heals that are going to get it ... what if u dont have a tank or heals u can get on or w/e and all the super rare mounts and pets u can maybe get get this ... its all just seems a little unfair ... but w/e its not like 1 person thinking its a little unfair is going to change it :(

I wish the Malygos mount was in these so I could stop farming EOE.

So far on my resto druid, I have received the following pets out of the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries among the gold of course and various potions. (Will update as I go along.) No mounts yet, but I am crossing my fingers I will get something soon!
