This will be the guild reward for completing the new caster legendary. As it was stated in the patch preview, it will take the work of the entire guild to build the weapon for one person, so as a reward for the guild there will be a special companion given as a reward. Nice of Blizz to make the pet account wide as well.

According to the 4.2 Preview, this is the reward for finishing Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest.

Makes sense because this pet is a Dragonwhelp, and the staff transforms the user into a dragon.

The 375g sell price (see:Lil' Tarecgosa) is probably exactly that high because it costs four times as much to buy from the guild vendor, adding up to 1 500 gold from the guild vendor, like the Reins of the Golden King.

I'm not too fond of how they are doing this pet reward... the guild of the staff-holder is the group the gets all the reward, and the guild as a whole doesn't have to life a single finger except to have that individual on their roster. I really do think that pet should be rewarded to the raid group that helps put together the staff, otherwise it really isn't fair to people who aren't members of the <insert random caster class here> guild.

For example, a raid very good raid group that is composed of several people from different guilds is assembling this staff for a mage who is in casual non-raiding guild with only himself as a member. Everyone who put the effort into assembling the legendary gets nothing, while the everyone in the mage's guild gets the exclusive pet.

Now, I doubt a scenario like this will ever happen... but it can, and in that sense, it hardly seems fair to reward the guild of one individual (his guild obviously wouldn't deserve the pet because only one individual from that particular guild put any effort into its construction) while leaving the real heroes with nothing to show for their hard work and determination. In my opinion, they should change it from a guild reward to a reward everyone in the raid can have, regardless of guild affiliation. We all did our part, we all deserve something to show for it.

Sure, it's selfish, but would you want a bunch of random strangers feeding off your hard work when they did nothing except roleplay in goldshire/silvermoon while you were off killing baddies and putting together a stick? Next thing you know, the achievement will be functioning like the current guild legendary achieves and people with the staff will be guild hopping all over the place giving EVERYONE access to the pet reward. It's a group effort, NOT a guild effort, so the group should get all the spoils.

Regardless of all these black truths, this pet won't be so special for long, it'll be about as common as any Blizzard Store bought BoA pet. Also, this is just another reason why the guild achievement system is completely broken.

dascylus: Imagine a guild with more than 10/25 active raiders. So should only those 9/24 other people that are in the raid when the designated caster completes the staff get the pet? Or should everyone who ever helped in some step of the questline get it? I bet some guilds would sell spots on those encounters to randoms who just join the guild for that, and are booted afterwards.

I think you are still seeing guilds as loose conglomerates of people who wanted a certain guild tag, while the people on your FL are from different guilds, as well as your PuGs.
However, progression raid guilds, which will be the first to unlock this pet (and let's be honest, after a while every active guild has it as well) usually consist mainly of the active raiders, and less than that are friends or retired raiders, who helped the guild on previous progressions, but can't bring enough time anymore. I don't want to see the raid guild that would deny its non-raider members access to a pet.

What is the guild rep requirement to purchase this pet? None on my realm have the staff.

No one seems to have mentioned it, so - her idle animation is that she will do a "hopping turn" while flying, twice, turning around in a circle. She also cranes her head to look in both directions (like many other pets/mounts). If you click on her, she makes the typical whelp noises (screeches).

Pretty adorable if you ask me.

Priced at 1500g, but you have to be exalted with your guild to buy it, so you automatically get the discounted price of 1350g.

Buy this pet one time from the Guild Vendor and your character learns it but the object doesn't disappear like other "normal" companion pets. You can then mail it to every single one of your characters on your account, you don't have to buy multiple pets to mail to your alts (unlike the guild mounts, which need to be purchased multiple times to be learned on multiple characters).
