This is purely speculation below, but I detect strong vibes from the fountain in Dalaran off the questline, particularly this exact relic, as it has exactly the same icon as the "Fountain Goldfish" item from Wrath of the Lich King. I am quite certain that this is a goldfish from the fountain at least, but its powers as a relic seem unclear and possibly sinister at this time. I am honestly starting to sense an inspiration from the "wells of fate" in Norse mythology, and I'm not sure how to feel about that. I have done the Wrath achievement fishing those coins up twice.

All I can say is that they "better not have been the Bloody Coins from STV in disguise," so to speak, but it does actually seem plausible if one looks at all of the coins from the Wrath achievement, and believe me, this goes deep if the Dalaran fountain is indeed going to make a future appearance.

-Medivh's silver coin is unique in that it appears blank when moused over, but when fished up, there is an emote in chat that reads "<You sense the ringing of three tones in your head, the third barely audible under the others' din.>" which is actually what the coin is supposed to say. Medivh has three destinies lorewise, and to quote a former Wowhead user that was previously quoted by someone else here, "it may have something to do with the "three destinies" Medivh has - the first is what his mother planned - to be the greatest of all the Guardians of Tirisfal. The second is Sargeras's, to be used as a corrupted weapon, The third is Medivh's own - to break free of those destinies. As a supporting argument, the third tone (or third destiny, Medivh's own) being barely audible may be a reference to how little control Medivh had over his own life."

-The oldest coin in the fountain is undoubtedly the coin belonging to Sylvanas Windrunner, as it the wish seen in the flavor text is "I hope my sisters and I can grow up and get married together. This coin appears to be very old." This, coupled with knowing the rest of Sylvanas' lore (well, before she went totally unhinged in the current retail memory) points to her possibly dealing with the few living blood elves going in a different direction than they did in The Burning Crusade. Kael'thas also has one that just seems to point out that he has had the personality traits that he was known for in The Burning Crusade since before first meeting Jaina, which hopefully means they figure out to just go to Outland and "nuke" him before, then all go home to Silvermoon, potentially as a neutral city going forward, since the Alliance already denounced them during Warcraft 3's lore events, and if they do the same for the Draenei or have them end up in the Horde somehow with Alliance getting Dalaran, it still would be balanced and make some amount of sense based on the TBC Sunwell arc, more so for both being neutral, but they may also forgive the orcs if Thrall has anything to do with it.

Multiple iconic characters that are killable prior to Wrath have coins that refer to their eventual fates, and four coins mention their elders basically hoping they will be a good leader.
-Both the fathers of Kael'thas and Arthas led their people and had them as heirs before WC3 and are represented in silver coins, while their heirs have golden coins.
-Tirion Fordring wishes for his son Taelan to become strong enough to defend those he cares for (see In Dreams questline for more details, but he basically does this and then is then killed by the Scarlet Crusade almost immediately after, which he was leading at the time with Tirion in exile and hiding out in a ruined shack in Eastern Plaguelands nearby.
-Uther says that Arthas must learn to temper his power in his wish. Arthas later killed him.
On to the villains themselves,
-Lady Katrana Prestor may be the best-known example in a vanilla context, otherwise known as Onyxia following events that revealed her draconic form in Stormwind's royal court during vanilla. It is noted that Onyxia's Lair was revamped for a level 80 tuning during Wrath of the Lich King and was removed at Wrath's launch prior to this. Many joked that the fountain soloed her at the time she was first removed, and I have a feeling Blizzard will play on those old jokes if this really is a fish from the Dalaran fountain. Her gold coin simply demands the fountain's power at an unknown date, but presumably before being revealed in vanilla, as both Stormwind and Dalaran are considered human cities at this point in lore. Malygos and the Scourge rising again are what pushed the Kirin Tor to accept help from Horde players in Wrath.

-Arthas's gold coin seems to be from prior to WC3, as he mentions being the heir to Lordaeron's throne while seemingly thinking about what to possibly ask for and settling on a "frozen scone." This alludes to either a mispronunciation or the fountain just being like "give this guy the Frozen Throne for his arrogance," potentially both.

-Kel'Thuzad basically just wants a hug, (RIP Mr. Bigglesworth.)

Other quick notes to conclude on more coins, because I started typing and then realized this could go deep:
-Anduin's gold coin has a wish to just grow up already. Given recent retail events, that was a very bad wish indeed.
-Most copper coins feature relatively minor lore characters, one of which is Calia Menethil. Arthas's sister wishes for the "handsome nobleman Lord Prestor to notice her" saying he is "so dreamy" in typical princess fashion. (Notably, she was betrothed to Lord Daval Prestor, the mysterious noble who was to replace the treacherous Lord Aiden Perenolde as the ruler of Alterac, but Prestor disappeared before any final arrangements were made. I am pretty sure this refers to Deathwing's mortal disguise during this time, as he is famously thought to be dead by Elling Trias during a vanilla questline. As for him, he has a coin where he wishes to pursue his life's true passion, which was apparently being a masterful cheesemonger.
-Vargoth notably has a copper coin, and it mentions another minor character known to be dead by vanilla, as he wishes for Captain Sanders to hurry up with his wine shipment.
-Stalvan Mistmantle has a copper coin that wishes the citizens of Dalaran ruin after presumably being in a domestic dispute and being refused a love potion.
-Genn Greymane is known to have a copper coin as he was not fully introduced in game until Cataclysm, but he does say Gilneas' fountains can grant ten times as many wishes.
-Two orphans from the TBC Children's Week questline have shiny copper coins, alluding to them being the newest coins as they are the youngest wishers. Notably, one of the quests at the Caverns of Time seems to indicate that they will both screw something up in the future. Something tells me it will be causing their people to end up in different faction alignments while tampering with the past but it still being a part of their future destinies.
-Lastly, Squire Rowe seems to dislike standing at the gates of Stormwind all day long, as he wishes to be transferred out and see Cersei again, whom is a blood elf added to Stonard in TBC. Given that he plays a minor role in the Onyxia attunement chain for Alliance players, this blood elf may come into play for any potential Sunken Temple shenanigans next phase.

All in all, I think they've had this whole SoD idea as a backup plan for years based on what I've seen so far, and I'm all for it. It can't be worse than WoD at least, because it's already better than WoD.

1. Pick up Ariden's Sigil from Dalaran Agent in Deadwind Pass
-Dalaran Agent is in a campsite (Ariden's Camp) in the northwest area of Deadwind Pass. Entrance is just north of the fork in the road coming from Swamp of Sorrows.
(Note: You do not NEED Ariden's Sigil to collect relics from Dark Riders. You only need Ariden's Sigil to SUMMON the Dark Rider. As long as at least one person in your group can summon the Dark Rider, all group or raid members who tag Dark Rider with damage can loot the relics.)

2. Collect 7 relics from 7 Dark Riders.
-Barrens, just to the southwest of Crossroads, next to a tree near the main road.
-Desolace, northern end of zone, between the two roads south of Nigel's Point.
-Duskwood, southeastern portion of Raven Hill cemetary (Western end of zone)
-Deadwind Pass, Northern portion of the zone, near a cliffside overlooking the river.
-Arathi Highlands, Northeastern end of zone, north of main road between Hammerfall and the neighboring farm.
-Badlands, somewhat in the center of the zone, slightly to the east in a large clearing between a ring of 5 mountains/plateaus on the map.
-Swamp of Sorrows, northeastern portion of zone, just to the southwest of fallow sanctuary and north of Temple of Atal Hakkar.

3. Return to Dalaran Agent in Deadwind Pass
-Turn in all 5 relics for some xp and silver.
-Pick up quest A Service To Dalaran which you immediatly turn in to collect a Supply Bag.
-Inside the Supply Bag will be your class rune.
