My friend (a human rogue) was looking for gear to make himself a 'pimp suit' and this is the only "staff" type item that looked right for him and his new Stylin' Purple Hat.

If you need a staff for looks, but can't use one, this works nicely :-)

There's also a variant of this same staff with a green gem in the head - if your pimp suit looks better with green, then look for an Elder's Amber Stave.

I assume I'm not the only person that wants to transmogrify my offhand to a staff so here's a list of all the staff-like offhand items I could find.

Visible When Sheathed

These sit diagonally across the character's back while sheathed
Desertwalker Cane - My personal favorite
Prophetic Cane - No longer obtainable
Runic Cane

Not Visible When Sheathed

I obtained and equipped both of these in game for confirmation
Apple-Bent Bough
Highborne Star

Visiblity While Sheathed is Unknown

These all behave just like the Highborne Star and Apple-Bent Bough in a model viewer so it's likely that they are also invisible while sheathed but I haven't confirmed this in the game
