I find it wierd that these are BoE, where to wear them? It appears both miners and blacksmiths can craft this from raw Obsidian shards, which is probably only in beta, and will be, most likely, tuned further into beta.

I believe this is the Cataclysm version of the Saronite Bar, and before that, in TBC, Adamantium Bar.
They're moving away from calling everything "bar". That, and obsidian, in reality, is a stone, not a metal.

I hope they change the icon for this, which is one they used for minor items back in Classic, as far as I can tell.

i was hoping there would be other uses for this other than engineering. when WoTLK came out there were blacksmithing Cobalt sets that were awesome for fresh lvl 70s, i wish there was an equivilent it would help us get out of our lvl 80 gear faster.

Interesting.. Obsidium bars fit into engineering bags, unlike the other bars.

I'm surprised that it didn't occur to previous posters that it might be a good idea to mention where the best places are to mine the stuff. My mining alt is maxed out at lvl 525 but he is only a lvl 78 (clothie Mage) so he has to fly into Mount Hyjal and avoid the mobs to mine obsidium. There seems to be plenty there. He gets 4300 XP for each node buts gets eaten alive from time to time.

BTW it was mentioned previously that obsidium fits into engineering bags. It does so because it is used in some of their their recipes.

Where are the BS items that obsidium is a reagent for? Folded Obsidium can't be the only thing...right?

Farming at Mount Hyjal,

With top speed and rutes from carbonite, got 11 stacks on server sylvanas in about 35 minutes.
