In regards to STR DPS;
A full list (as of 10/24/11) of the STR DPS pieces that be found within the 4.3, 5 player dungeons ( End Time, Well of Eternity, Hour of Twilight ).

Going off of this list; you should be able to fill all but two gear slots (ranged, ring 2) with items available from these instances (although that isn't necessarily recommended in all cases).

I have a question. Now, Bear with me on this....

would this be at all useful for tanking? the Strength provides a bit of Parry as well as threat right? a Mastery proc for Shield Block/Blood Shield/Critical Block, & a little bit of extra threat as fire damage from the on-use effect.

I mean, its not dedicated to tanking, but, still, any good if it dropped & no one needed?

Anyone with this trinket on the ptr feels like sharing details about the on use effect ?

-Does it have a visual effect ? (had to ask cause i've a thing for fire glows/effects, like, does it make your weapon glow, or you glow, or if it trigger any fire effect on the target)
-How long does it last ? (does it give you a buff, or applies to your weapon like poisons, and for how long does so)
-how much damage does it add ? (values are on the spell effect, about 500 dmg it says but might be buffed by effects and such)
-is it tied to autoattacks or all melee attacks or makes you cast a spell ? (does the extra damage applies to the target of your autoattacks only or to the target of all your melee attacks? also wondering about thunderclap/bladestorm/whirlwind/cleave if it's a warrior answering)
-just single target damage or splash ?(does it deal damage only to the target, or also to enemies closeby)

all we know about it is that upon activating th spell being cast is called magistrike, that deals about 500 damage in a 5 yards range(melee combat). any more details of it's working would be highly appreciated.

thanks in advace if anyone ever does answer! this little effects and procs is what makes me love this game really :)

Very much like the Rosary of Light, the on-use effect serves mainly as a cosmetic toy effect.

Not very useful as a tanking trinket. Most tanks will be at or near block cap by this tier, so additional mastery stacking is not useful. And even if they weren't block capped, a mastery proc is much less valuable than a constant +mastery trinket. You don't get any benefit when the proc isn't active (which is most of the time), and the rest of the time, when the proc is active, most of the benefit is wasted since it will put you well over the block cap.

This is purely a melee dps trinket.

Warning: it hits multiple targets and chains to mobs not in combat. Usually nothing I can't handle, but pulling Searris made some trouble. Also chain jump has a long range.

The ICD for the mastery proc on this trinket is 50 seconds, the buff is called Varo'then's Brooch. This makes the passive mastery bonus 459.6.

Just for testing purposes, I replaced regular with this trinket. My maximum burst DPS decreased slightly, but I am seeing an increase in overall damage done when examining logs over the same fights.

Anyone else noticing this, or do you have different results?

I just got this on my frost DK and it does provide a noticeable increase in dps. I replaced License to Slay which only has the extra hit to it. The +38 strength proc is slightly less than the consistant +383 on this trink with a mastery proc and does pretty well for me as a DW Forst DK. The hit was useful to reforge to a more priority stat but other than that I like this trinket for my class.

Laila would be assuming you aren't hit capped. I found on my Frost DK that the dps plate gear in the Hour of Twilight dungeons had an overwhelming amount of Hit on it and was actually looking forward to getting this trinket to replace License to Slay. I was at well over 10% hit and couldn't reforge out any more, so the Hit was being wasted. In my case this was a dps increase, but I do agree that Mastery is not as important as Hit and Expertise, or even haste, so this will not be the case to everyone. I guess what I am saying is that you shouldn't generalize whether an item would be a dps loss or increase, but rather look at your stat priorities and whats available on a case by case basis.

im wondering about this trinket for tanking as many ppl have posted before. but im actually a dk tank. my stamn is descent and i really havent found anything else worth using. currently using veil of lies and alchemist stone.
the str isnt vfery significant the use is yet another aoe agro ability.

I want to get it for test with my furry warrior: track proc combine it with Apparatus of Khaz'goroth which should proc mastery and you will end up with 3689 mastery rating ->20.5 Mastery added to what i have (10.5) => 31Mastery pop Death Wish and Recklessness and you will end up doing some insane burst dmg since that much mastery will increase enrage effects and dmg of Raging Blow by 341%.

Currently simming around 150 dps higher for me than even AoK for frost dw, EJ have underestimated this trinket somehow, probably the ICD.

A solid DW frost trinket, don't let others misinform you ;)

For rets, on the odd chance that you're not running LFR/terrible luck with trinkets (or heroic Firelands), this will be BiS for you over Rosary of Light since Mastery>Crit
