I love when they add a port ability to various items (like the Ruby Slippers from Karazan), having an alt way to port around is always a huge plus. :)

This is one of two rewards from the Kalu'ak Fishing Derby. You can choose between Boots of the Bay and Dread Pirate Ring, but only the first person to bring the Blacktip Shark back to the quest giver can win a prize each day the derby is held.

It's nice to finally have an update to the fishing boots, but I'm still sad that they don't let us walk on water.
I mean, hat that gives us infinite lures
pole that lets us breathe underwater
trinket that lets us swim faster
but still, nothing that lets us stand so we can reach those annoying pools in the middle of the ocean!

Don't get me wrong, I do like the teleport, but think it would have been better in ring or trinket form.

Hmm, just got these and for some reason they can't be enchanted, not even enchants that work on level 1 boots.

I won these the other day. My observations.

These boots cannot be enchanted by any means, even with armor kits or scrolls that have no level requirement.
In response to Heathisrael: Tried Light Armor Kit and Minor Speed.

The teleport takes the player directly to the inn in Booty Bay, to the same spot as a hearthstone bound to that same inn. Therefore, winning these boots on Saturday helps win the tournament the next day. If you use them immediately after winning the Derby, they will be on cooldown for the STV tournament the next day.

The on-use teleport has a 10 second cast time, like every other teleport, and a 30 second cooldown is invoked when the boots are equipped. Therefore, it is best to equip them prior to the tournament beginning, so as to not be caught by the CD when using the boots to turn in one's catch and be beat by a few seconds (this actually happens quite often with the STV tournament).

In case you didn't already know, these boots share the exact same model with the Darkmantle boots,which were part of an early dungeon tier set for rogues.

No idea why people say this is ugly. Most fishing outfits have a large pair of fishing boots, heavy rubber things, so they can wade into rivers and the surf without getting their feet wet and soaked. This is a good look for boots that are made for fishing, fishing galoshes.

Many enchants do not seem to work on these boots, I was disappointed to find Minor Speed increase didn't ><. Mithril spurs do work on these however.

These boots cannot be transmogrified, as they have no armor type.

So if you wanted to transmogrify them into something else for your fishing "set" (like Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots, for example) you are out of luck. Which is a pity because man, are they ugg-lyyyyyy.

Guess they're UGG® boots!

I just wanted to update something I saw in this guide… This is what I can accumulate to grant the highest Fishing Skill Level of 755:

525 Skill Level Cap (Cata)
+40 Arcanite Fishing Pole
+5 High Test Eternium Fishing Line
+150 Heat-Treated Spinning Lure (15 min Lure)
+15 Boots of the Bay (Feet)
+5 Lucky Fishing Hat or Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat (Head)
+5 Formula: Enchant Gloves - Angler (Glove Enchant)
+10 Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager (Drink Buff for 3 min)
525 (Skill Cap) + 230 (Added Bonuses) =
Total: 755

Now, I don’t know of anywhere in game that would require anyone to have their fishing this high, but, I wanted to update it since the only person I saw that was close had a Rank of 0.

Currently broken in WOTLK Classic. ( 15 fishing skill works but they will not teleport you )

Edit - After months of being broken they are finally fixed.
