I guess this is a crack on the fact you can fish in a lot of areas with lava. Like in Ironforge, and still get Old Ironjaw.

Why does it show 20 here indicating it makes 20 of them? It doesn't show that in my engineering dialog. Does it make 20 at a time?

Edit: Never mind, made it myself and it only makes one. Truly worthless imo.

Looks like the only use for this will be to gain a few points of engineering skill from 510 to 515 or so. Way too expensive for only 5 minutes of buff.

Judging by the cost of the mats and the subtext, I'm guessing this is going to be needed for a Lurker Below style boss in Sulfuron Spire.

To clarify:
1. You can fish in lava without using a lure.
2. You can even user other lures in lava.
In most cases (like this one), the yellow text is just for fun purposes.

Another thing:
The mats for this lure cost ~60g on my realm. Even if the prices will go down to WotLK niveau (which they won't, due to the inflation of gold), this lure will still cost ~10g.

Unless they change the material needs, or increase the amount you get with 1 craft, or implent something VERY interresting that requires a fishing skill far beyond 700, I don't see any reason why someone should ever use one of this lures.

Another useless over priced item for engineers to make... oh what fun.

I went to twilight highlands and hyjal to fish in the lava there thinking since i was maxed fishing at least i would have a better chance to fish up volatile fire in a non pool... but however was not the case. still fished up the same junk at the same rate and for only a 5 min buff... clearly not worth the time. also by the time you can make this it only gives one skill point. so why even use it to lvl when you have patterns that give 4-5 points each

this is been changed next patch(4.0.6) to 15 min duration and the recipe now creates 2 instead of 1
makes it alot more usefull now with the 15 min duration. (correction tnx to EnioArda)

When I use this lure I find I fish up a lot more volatile waters then normal. From nodes (Tol-Barad) I get 2-6 volatiles per fish node. Open sea I tend to get a few as well.

Wreckage in Tol Barad I didn't notice any difference.

This also may be due to the fact it pushes my fishing skill to 730.

This lure shouldn't affect the rate you get volatile waters whilst fishing at all.

Well, at last I know why they decided to make two and a third very, very important buff foods out of trash fish that cannot be pool-caught: as a make-work initiative for engineers!

I'd be markedly less pleased about this if I didn't know 48798742 out-of-work engineers who owe me favors....

I just wanted to update something I saw in this guide… This is what I can accumulate to grant the highest Fishing Skill Level of 755:

525 Skill Level Cap (Cata)
+40 Arcanite Fishing Pole
+5 High Test Eternium Fishing Line
+150 Heat-Treated Spinning Lure (15 min Lure)
+15 Boots of the Bay (Feet)
+5 Lucky Fishing Hat or Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat (Head)
+5 Formula: Enchant Gloves - Angler (Glove Enchant)
+10 Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager (Drink Buff for 3 min)
525 (Skill Cap) + 230 (Added Bonuses) =
Total: 755

Now, I don’t know of anywhere in game that would require anyone to have their fishing this high, but, I wanted to update it since the only person I saw that was close had a Rank of 0.
