One of the new epic raw gems added in 4.3.

The epic gems themselves drop off of bosses from the raid instance Dragon Soul and can be transmuted as well.
The design patterns are learned from Tome of Burning Jewels which are sold from a new Jewelcrafting vendor for 4 Illustrious Jewelcrafter's Token. Individual recipes can be bought for 5 Illustrious Jewelcrafter's Token.

These gems change the efficiency of some professions, which are those dealing with them & sockets. Comparing the average stat bonus from all professions (+80 stat & +120 Stamina excluding Leatherworking, Tailoring, Engineering, & Herbalism) & somebody wearing an epic gem on all slots:

A Jewelcrafter's stat gain will be +51 & +78 possible stamina.

A Blacksmith's stat gain will be +100 & +160 possible stamina.

The cheapest one is 2600g on my server at the moment highest one 8000g. Don't know if they're selling at this price. Other colors are much higher at the moment around 5k minimum.
