You must be in costume that you make from 5 costume scraps, I dont know if you need to be doing this quest (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/quest=10722) to get the costume scraps or not, but thats when I did it. The orb is good for a laugh.

The effect won't be broken by damage so you will have to right-click the icon to get out of it. And while you're a whelp you can't cast any spells, nor attack.

Although they are pretty expensive for what they are, they are good fun in WSG if your the flag carrier, a little dragon with a flag goes a long way :D

Its a shame that damage taken breaks the effect though :(

To get this item you have to collect costume scraps off wyrmcult members in Blades edge. When you have 5 scraps use them to create an overseer disguise.

When you get to the Wyrmcult cave, use it (you have to be out of combat) and then go left at the entrance to find a provisioner from whom you can buy it for 2g50s.

You may not be able to attack while under the effect but that doesnt stop me using my trinkets with it ^_^ Looks great to use 6 demon bag and smokeys lighter while under its effects.

It is quite hard and expensive to get though for only 3 charges, I do wish Blizz would make it repairable or have infinite charges, however it is great fun to use ^_^

A word of caution, i used it in SW and got about 1000 mesages asking where i got it -.-

I just go on a ball throwing frenzy on my hunter with it, activate aspect of the pack first, then toss Heavy Leather Balls at people as I zoom around.

Its a fun little side attraction, well worth the short amount of time it takes to get the 5 scraps so long as you aren't burning it off constantly.

As mentioned above you don't need to be on the "Meeting at the Blackwing Coven" quest to get the scrap drops, but you do need to have completed it in order for the scraps to drop. Just a heads up if you're trying to get the Orb and might have skipped over that quest leveling up.

any damage will force this effect off of you.
put the effect on, get somone to put a pet biscuit on a pet whelpling, and /follow somone, seeing them trying to get u stuck is just awesome lol

Interestingly enough, using the Darkmoon Faire cannon near the Aldor bank doesn't cancel this effect, so you can actually fly as a whelpling! :)

Since I don't see a comprehensive guide as to how to get this, thought I'd make one.

1) Do A Time for Negotiation... from Tree Warden Chawn. Not entirely sure this step is necessary, but apparently the droprate for the next step is significantly improved if you do this. It's a very simple quest, so do it anyway.

2) Grind Wyrmcult Hewers and Wyrmcult Poachers until you get a Meeting Note. Start the quest, yadda yadda, you've done this before.

3) Do the follow-up quests (Wyrmskull Watcher, Longtail is the Lynchpin) and pick up Meeting at the Blackwing Coven.

4) At this point, you'll need to fly around and find gather Costume Scraps. These drop off any NPC with Wyrmcult in the name, however, the best drop rates are off Wyrmcult Scout, Wyrmcult Zealot, and Wyrmcult Acolyte. Plus, these mobs are in the general area of the vendor, so you can save yourself some running around.

5) Once you have at least 5 scraps, you can assemble them, head inside, and claim your prize. Progressing further in the questchain is unnecessary; apparently the scraps still drop even after you finish the entire questline.

At level 80, figuring out what to do took longer than actually doing it. You don't need to have the quest Meeting at the Blackwing Coven in your questlog to get the drops; so the step above might be redundant. I abandoned the quest and the next mob I killed dropped a scrap. But that's the order I did it in, and it worked for me.

Further notes: You can have multiple Overseer Disguises in your bag at once, so I figure you could (if you were so inclined) to stock up and save them. The orb has only three charges, and is unique, so you can only have one on you at a time. Pity.

Important note: if you used your oveerseer disguise to enter the cave then collect another one to get out or just use your hearthstone because this whelp disguise doesn't make the npc's in the cave friendly and they start attacking on sight as usual. Learned a good lesson after a jumped into the crowd :)

Just an added note that i posted in other part of wowhead. If you own the Brewfest trinket Smoking Pipe (cant remember the name) and use it whilst in the form, your whelp will breathe green flames. Even when it does its idle animation of turning its head, the flames follow its snout around too.

Step 1: Just kill 5 of the guys at entrance of the cave!
Step2: Then use the costume scraps that they drop and form a disguise!
Step3: After using the disguise go inside the cave head left to the mobs at the back(dont worry they wont attack you) go to the guy that u can buy/sell things and buy the Orb!

U only have 3 charges so use it for good u cant have more then 1 orb! so when u finish it u will have to return to get more!

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. Just a heads up, it is possible to get the Quest achievement for this zone and not turn in this quest. I had to use everyquest to find a couple harder to locate quests, but now my wife and I can get more of this item anytime we want. If you turn in the quest, it's over though, you won't be able to repurchase more.

You may only buy this from the Wyrmcult Provisioner while you have the Wyrmcult Disguise on for a quest. The orb has 3 charges and you cannot get more disguises once you finish the quest.

Gotta love this item! Fun thing to do is get the shrink effect from Noggenfogger and then use your whelp orb ;) Make sure you have your pet Whelpling out too!

The previous poster is incorrect - the costume scraps continue to drop even after you finish the quest. You can make as many costumes as you want and return to the vendor to buy more Orbs. The Orb is unique so you can only have one at a time, but you CAN get more when you choose (so long as you're willing to farm for the costume scraps, which isn't too hard).

I've found that the mobs just outside the cave drop the Costume Scraps a good deal.

U can only get this from a NPC in Blades Edge hes a cultist so he is an enemy to you. The only way to get to him is to collect costume scraps from the mobs in the tunnel, disguise yourself and then u can buy off him.

It's the mobs just outside the cave that have higher droprate % of the costume scraps.
You CAN get the costume scraps after the quest, so you can go there and get another costume to buy another orb, when your 3 charges run out.
Yeah, the orb only contains 3 charges.. (they forgot to mention that on the details)

So,

1] Get costume scraps
2] Make the costume from 5 scraps and use
3] Go inside Wyrmcult Cave and take a left turn as you enter
4] Talk to the vendor

Be warned druids, shapeshifting while you're a blackwhelp will instantly remove the buff from you.

However, you can take Winterfall Firewater once you're a whelp. Then you're a bigger whelp!

Hey guys, also warning you guys to not mine when in the Draenei Costumne. There was a vein near the provider when i mined it it took me out of it and i had to kill him. =( now i gotta farm 5 more scraps to get that darn dragon and finish this quest!

To get it you need to farm 5 cloth scraps from the cultists there, then you use it to make a disguisa and all non-dragonkin save the whelps will be friendly.

I also found out some usually hostile creatures gets neutral to you... or that or the evil treants became neutral for some other reason.

once u get there kill the mobs outside the cave untill u get 5 x Costume Scraps. Once u got em all create an Overseer Disquise. Get inside the cave, turn left and talk to Wyrmcult Provisioner.

Even if u have completed the q before u can still gather the costume scraps.

If you take fall damage while transformed, you lose the effect. So don't jump off too high of hills. :)

You can also take the noggenfogger elixir while in dragon form, if your lucky you will turn smmaller. Your size is a little smaller than a pet whelp. I suggest if you try this, use the elixir before the orb, the skeleton transformation ruins the whelp form ><

Interesting effect for druids. If you get the draenai costume, then when you are outside shift to bird form. You will be able to fly as the draenai. Looks very funny, like swimming in the air. LOL

After you get the original quest for the costume scraps, you can get the disguise as many times as you want.

Also, if you have that drink that's given out at the fire festival, the one that makes you spew flame, you can be a fire-breathing dragon. I discovered this a few weeks ago, and had lot of fun flying around breathing fire at people.

HAha i found some awesome fun with this i got Goblin Gumbeaux kettle (from a fires of outland trading cards...it's a rare)to make some of the Goblin Gumbeaux. Ate the item then transformed into a whelp now he burps out green gas =)

While transformed you can eat, drink, use potions (like winterfall firewater to grow big).

As a warrior I could use bloodrage & build some rage (I suppose it would be considered a spell). But then I tried to do battleshout but it said I couldn't b/c I was silenced.

Had to use that in darkmoon faire because i got too close to the alliance gaurds ><

farm costume mats in Wyrmskull Tunnel (entrance 49.35)where you get the quest, not in the Blackwing Coven. Drop rate there is very high!

i didn't enjoy trying to look through all the posts and crap to figure this out, so ill save you the trouble.

First

Go to Tree Warden Chawn in Blade's Edge Mountains around 61,40 speak with him.

Then

get the quest A Time for Negotiation... complete this quest return to Tree Warden Chawn and you will get this quest ...and a Time for Action finish this quest

Now

you have to go and kill Wyrmcult Poachers and Wyrmcult Hewers until this item Meeting Note Drops use it to accept the quest Did You Get The Note?

Once again

go speak with Tree Warden Chawn he will give you the quest Wyrmskull Watcher after accepting this go speak with Watcher Moonshade he will give the quest Longtail is the Lynchpin

Now

you kill Draaca Longtail and go back to speak with Watcher Moonshade

Finaly

Watcher Moonshade will give you the quest Meeting at the Blackwing Coven

Now How To Get This Item

now that you are on this quest you can begin killing wyrm cultists to get Costume Scrapsi sugest the mobs near the cave at 30,32 you will need 5 to make a Overseer Disguise you can get as many as you want i farmed 30 Costume Scraps to make myself 6 Overseer Disguise i used one to buy this orb and i saved the other 5 in my bank for when i go back to get another orb so i wont have to farm Costume Scraps each time.

Where do you buy it?

Go to the cave at 30,32 and put on your Overseer Disguise and walk into the cave and to go the left and there should the Wyrmcult Provisioner he will sell you a single Orb of the Blackwhelp at a time for 2 Gold 50 Silver a piece. it has 3 charges. GL and enjoy.

For the benefit of everyone like me, who enjoys cute things, I have tested whether you can obtain the costume after completing the quest. This was done at great risk to me, and I can confirm that you can, in fact, get the scraps and buy the orb. Life is good.
