What does this do?

I believe a good guess is that the use effect of this item transforms you into some kind of NPC look-alike and most probably a mob that might be in one of the titans-related instances.

The long cooldown paired with the very low duration leads me to believe it might have a certain event use rather than an actual battle use (1 hour is way long) or any cosmetic mean (20 seconds is way lower than the average transformation duration of other items).

When you use this item your character's name is changed to "Green Qiraji Battle Tank". Your title is also applied to the name change, so when I used this I became "Assistant Professor Green Qiraji Battle Tank".

Apparently a similar name change occurs when you use the Night Elf rare artifact "Wisp Amulet".

Made this today and can confirm that it does infact turn you in to a battle tank, and, if you have your weapon out while you use it, the battle tank will hold the weapon in its um, claw? :P

This item seems to have a hidden function. Whenever you pick up archeology related items (say, keystones like Highborne Scrolls), you occasionally hear random C'thun quotes upon picking the item up, as long as you have this item in your inventory. It might be all RNG, or happen whenever you pick up a keystone in a zone near a known old god or any adjacent zone.

I'm not sure of all the details however, but seems like the item description wasn't joking when it says that you're afraid of going insane upon completing the artifact.

You have discovered a very bad thing. It hurts your mind to even look at fragments of this artifact and you worry that it might drive you insane were you to complete the final object

LMAO..I love the Grammer Speach But Ahhhh...it will never be dropped only because if they understood the song only refered to I before E ecept after C.
It was said that they were Silent too as anyone can cleary see. Sci Ence Anci ent.
the letters actualy stand out and are pronounced and most words that start with sci are mostly more than one sylable.....as for the BBC ..i would'nt listen to a station thats use Benny Hill as there Headliner...LOL

Ok, I posted about my experiences getting most, if not all rares (assuming I was eligible) by the time I ran out of new common projects to do for said races. I theorized this would be a rule, but actually it's more of a "it's easier to get rares to proc as long as you still have new commons to discover in that race too", as detailed in http://wowdigsite.com/guides/rares-explained/

This is because commons will not repeat until you've discovered all commons that are available to you at the time, so if the RNG says you should get a repeat of a common before this point, it rolls again, thus increasing your chance of getting a rare as well.

No offense, but if you wish to correct or admonish someone in a superior tone, and given that the entire rule is "I before 'E' except after 'C,' or when sounding like 'ae' as in 'neighbor' or 'weigh,'" I'd advise against citing examples of the rule as exceptions:

"seize, weird, theism, eight, weight, protein, sovereignty, foreign, vein, feisty, kaleidoscope, being, neighbour, and their"

Exactly 6 of these 14 "exceptions" actually follow the rule. Hell, you even cited "weight" and "neighbor," words used in the rule itself, as exceptions.

This is without splitting hairs over the fact the understanding for the rule was always that it was only meant to clarify in the case of words where "I" and "E" were paired to make a long "E" sound (ee). In which case, the only exceptions you cited were "species" and "seize." Anyone confused over which comes first in the word "science" has deeper issues than such as phonics can ever hope to solve.

Doubtless there are many exceptions to the actual rule, and it is outdated (how one could ever make a coherent rule for a patchwork language such as English is beyond me). However, it takes something out of your going after another's ignorance when you fail to show a basic comprehension of the subject, and leave the distinct impression your information is simply something you gleefully noted during a night of using StumbleUpon.

At the very least you could try and understand what is written.

For the first part, I quoted my source (the TV program 'QI' from the BBC), it was not something I found on StumbleUpon. QI is a comedy quiz show where the aim of questions is to highlight common misunderstandings of facts and knowledge, catching people out when they make mistakes by stating things that are commonly believed but are wrong. Their book, as I mentioned above, found 923 words that included the letters "cie" in that order in the word (so all breaking the rule).

The common rule, indeed, the one quoted by Pachuca in his/her post is "I before E except after C", a rule I was taught when younger. The longer form about the additional sub rule about how it only applies when words sound a certain way is not commonly taught or quoted, indeed, I found a few variations on the sub-rule on a quick google search. I only found out that the rule was only meant to apply in certain pronunciations after reading up on it and in my second post, I provided further examples of the "ee" sound where the rule does not apply (caffeine, concierge and Madeira - wikipedia provides a few more examples: either, heinous, inveigle, keister, leisure, monteith, neither, obeisance, seize, seizin, sheikh, teiid).

The next part is the 14 examples, where you suggest 8 are wrong - the rule says "i before e except after c". That statement presents 2 specific arguments that must be followed:

1) I is always before E
unless
2) There is a C preceding in which case, it is EI

The examples thus actually prove the commonly quoted rule is wrong as these are 14 words where I is NOT before E and there is no C present which is part of the rule (i.e. you cannot have EI in a word without a C). Perhaps you misunderstand the full part of the rule, indeed, the episode of QI that this was on had this issue with one of the contestants not understanding that the statement is read in more than 1 way.

If you go by the rule of "i before e except after c" then "weight" should be "wieght" or "neighbour" would be "nieghbour" because there is an I and E together and no C preceding. Do you see where you made the mistake?

The comment made originally was to follow up Blizz making a typo in game (they spelt Receive incorrectly), I was simply making the point that the rule of "i before e except after c" is wrong on numerous occasions and as the QI book points out (again I linked my source) there are more times where following the rule would result in a spelling mistake than there are when it is correct.

It was dropped as a mnemonic to teach to children in the UK as it was really not a useful rule (particularly as few people are taught that it is reliant on the pronunciation of the word as much as the spelling). In the Appendix of the 2009 edition of Support for Spelling, by the English Department for Education, there is a note:

The i before e except after c rule is not worth teaching. It applies only to words in which the ie or ei stands for a clear /ee/ sound and unless this is known, words such as sufficient, veil and their look like exceptions. There are so few words where the ei spelling for the /ee/ sound follows the letter c that it is easier to learn the specific words: receive, conceive, deceive (+ the related words receipt, conceit, deceit), perceive and ceiling.

I think you need to re-read the rule (and the way it is understood by the majority, and not English Language students) and understand what it means and then maybe you will get the point of the post which was simply to correct a common misconception rather that "going after someone's ignorance" and you will see I did not get the post wrong but rather you did.

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. My intention was to list all items with controlable transformations. Feel free to let me know if I missed an item!

Does anyone else find it odd that the icon and art for this item is commonly used in Tol'vir architecture? Check the portal to Uldum in Orgrimmar for an example.

After reading a ton of comments, I felt like I was going crazy because I couldn't find the appropriate checkbox on my DBM. Turns out they took it out and packaged it as a separate addon, DBM-Archaeology.

From Curse:

Originally just put in DBM-Core as a bit of humor during a test phase. The sounds became quite popular and when removed from last DBM release got numerous requests from users wanting them back. Since archaeology sounds don't really belong in the base mod, I decided to bring that feature back in plugin form!.

Now you can enjoy all your old god whispers in your dig sites. What this mod does is play a random C'thun and Yogg Saron whispers from the game files any time you loot a keystone. Archaeology is a profession meddling with the ancient artifacts of azeroth yet no one is paying any mind ot you. This plugin gives archaeology a bit of RP when the old gods whisper you as if they are noticing you meddling with things you should not be, giving archaeology that feel it should have had to begin with.

Hopefully that will save someone the stress of thinking they just couldn't see what was right in front of them, which is the problem I thought I was having.

Unlike other transformation items, this can be used in Caverns of Time instances to effectively clear the human/night elf illusions. Once the battle tank transformation expires (or is canceled) you will revert to your original race without regaining the illusion.

In case anyone out there is interested in manipulating the size of yourself while transformed, I can confirm that you can use the Vrykul Drinking Horn to enlarge yourself, and Noggenfogger Elixir to shrink yourself.
