When you kill the Lich King with a player wearing Shadowmourne in the raid, you will get an additional item - Unsealed Chest. After bringing the chest to Darion he will open it up and let you bring the items back to their respective owners to get your rewards :

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger - A brand new mount that looks like the Death Knight's class mount.
Muradin's Favor - A 10-minute Frost Dwarf transformation.
Jaina's Locket - A portal to Dalaran on a 1-hour cooldown, you finally have your own pocket mage!
Tabard of the Lightbringer - A tabard with a very shiny on-use effect.
Sylvanas' Music Box - A music box that plays Lament of the Highborne.

All the items (inclusive the mount) are "bind when used" and therefore can be sold in the Auction House.

I added 2 screenshots. I've noticed that you have different hair colors but the body graphic seems to stay the same. You can mount while having this shapeshift effect on.

I've submitted a screenshot of a GM reply in-game of the following:

"The Sealed Chest item only drops as long as the person on the Shadowmourne quest line has 'The Lich King's Last Stand' in their quest log. Once they complete the quest, the Sealed Chest will no longer drop."

It's ONCE per Shadowmourne, NOT weekly. This will be a fairly rare item.

Unlike the Iron Boot Flask, I can confirm Muradin's Favor will not break the illusion when you mount. So be free and ride with the wind, little naked frost dwarves!

I think that this item (and the other Shadowmourne items) will be worth even more once Cataclysm comes, for two reasons: 1) People won't be doing ICC anymore
2) Everyone will, in general, have more gold, as inflation happens with each expansion.

I bought one of these and I'm holding it as an investment for a few months :P

Main drawback with this is the illusion is a Magic effect, so it's vulnerable to dispel in PvP. Kind of unfortunate since it's such a long cooldown.

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. My intention was to list all items with controlable transformations. Feel free to let me know if I missed an item!

Interesting fact; using this item and then logging out caused my wowarmory page to display my female character as it's male equivalent.

if your guild used to raidroll the items and you won one ( i won Muradin's Favor ) you will not be able to get this item after getting your own Shadowmourne
The following items are unique

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger is also unique but is teached on use

You can get Muradin's Favor if you completed the Shadowmourne quest, but you need to hope you get a nice GM, what i did was to destroy the one I had before, complete the quest and then mail it to an alt then ticket a GM for an item restore, but with the new web item restore feature it should be a lot easier now.

If you already own any of the items that you purchased or were given to you, but you yourself are now fixing to complete the Shadowmourne quest, you have a problem. Four of the items and unique and therefore the quests to receive the items cannot be completed while you already own them.

Putting the items into your bank won't work, none of the items are vendorable for buyback later, and putting the tabard into void storage won't work because it's unique (I've not tested the tabard vendor yet).

Don't worry, there is another way! Thanks to Blizzard's newly released item restoration service, you can delete an item, finish the quest to receive the new item, mail it to an alt, and then use the restoration service to have your original returned to you via mail immediately. There is one catch, the item restoration service may only be used once every thirty days, so you cannot do it for all four items at once. Confirm the you have an item restoration available to you before you delete one of these very valuable items!
